All from one veteran’s estate Homer Unterkircher
~features a scarce WWII era VC-70 “Scorpions” squadron decal – a
large decal measuring approx 5.5” x 7.0” in size in mint condition
in the original paper wrapping. Original Composite Squadron 70 unit
history, large metal name plate, original photographs. Scarce!

WWII USN Torpedo Squadron 20 Aircraft Decal and Photo Lot
   
A rare original VT-20 aircraft decal and photo lot ~ this scarce
WWII decal measures approx. 6" in size and still has its
original wax paper covering. Since this is a reverse image, a
photo was taken in the sun to show the actual colors on the
decal. No attempt has been made to remove the wax paper since it
is over 75 years old. The crosshatch markings are from the
screen behind and not the decal itself-the back of the decal is
marked 'LEFT' for placement on that side of the Avenger.
Included in the lot is a nice original 8" x 10" photo of the
Officers in the squadron, several of whom were killed during
their combat cruise. There is also a nice wartime original photo
of the unit insignia which matches up perfectly to the size of
the decal. VT-20 Flew TBM-1C Avengers off the USS Enterprise
from August to November of 1944 and were involved in the Bonin
Island raids, Palau support missions, Formosa raids, the Battle
of Leyte Gulf and other Philippine operations. Six of the pilots
shown on this photo were (Killed in Action) and one survived as
a POW - the squadron lost a total of 21 men on this cruise.
A very rare lot and nice opportunity for the WWII U.S. Navy
insignia collector!

WWII VC-68 Squadron Artwork & Photos
    
A rare period original pencil rendering of the VC-68 squadron
insignia ~ measuring approx. 12" x 15" in size. Accompanying
the artwork are (3) wartime original 8"x10" photos that include
a nice collage of the various Pilots in the squadron sitting in
the cockpits of their TBM Avengers and F4F Wildcats. Another
very nice photo identifying various Pilots in the unit, and
another nice image of the squadron insignia. A very nice lot
from a distinguished Navy combat unit during WWII ~ a nice
opportunity!
